The American Association of Neurological Surgeons,originated from the Harvey Cushing Institute which was founded in 1931, has developed into an international scientific and educational association with more than 8,000 members.It is dedicated to advancing the development of neurosurgery research in order to provide patients with high-quality neurosurgical care.It mainly involves the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of spine, spinal cord, brain, nervous system and peripheral nerve disorders. Four journals are incorporated in the AANS: Journal of Neurosurgery, Journal of Neurosurgery: Spine, Journal of Neurosurgery: Pediatrics as well as Neurosurgical Focus.
